YOUR TIME IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET

If a private investigator analyzed your calendar for the past 12 months, what would they conclude are your top priorities? Chances are that there would be a significant gap between what you say is important, and how you actually spend your time.

It’s great to have big goals, aspirations and ambitions, but unless your calendar is aligned to those aspirations, they will remain a hope, a dream or a wish. Either you can direct your calendar, or you can let it direct you.

As a leader, your time is your most important asset. You can get more resources and capital, but you can never get back time. Every minute you spend misaligned with your most important priorities, is a minute you can never get back.

“You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.” – George Lorimer

QUESTIONS TO REFLECT ON

  • How much do you direct your calendar, versus how much do others direct it?
  • Reflect on the relationships that matter most to you; how could you demonstrate their importance in your calendar?
  • Reflect on your purpose, values and goals; how could you demonstrate their importance in your calendar?
