EMBRACE PRESSURE

Everybody knows that to increase your physical strength, you must lift heavier weights. It’s the increased pressure on your muscles that creates growth.

It’s the same with leadership. To grow as a person and fulfill your potential as a leader, you must reject complacency, strive for excellence and embrace pressure.

For example, if you want to become a persuasive public speaker, you need to progressively speak to bigger and more senior audiences. The pressure that comes from preparing and delivering those speeches will, over time, help you grow your communication skills.

Pressure creates focus. It directs your attention to the one thing that really matters at that time. It forces you to deepen your concentration, eliminate distractions and get it done. And the more deeply and intently you focus on anything, the more likely you will get it done to a level of excellence.

INSPIRATION FROM OTHERS

“Pressure is a privilege. It only comes to those who earn it.” – Billie Jean King

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” – H. Jackson Brown Jr.
